Folks, besides going through the car menu system to disable the interior sensors each time i park up so I can leave my dog and lock the car without him triggering the alarm, is there any other way to do it? On my old disco you just needed to press the remote twice in quick succession but that doesn't work on a full fat.

With miine you lock it with the remote then press it again and a wee red light comes on on the dash for a second. The dog is fine in the car then.
What I dont know is how to do it when the battery in the remote is flat and you lock the door with the key

not sure why the difference then.

As I say, when I hit the button twice, the alarm still triggers if interior movement is sensed.

The owners manual says that double pressing the remote just deadlocks the doors.

With the key turn the key in the drivers door lock twice within 10 seconds towards the rear of the car
With the remote press the lock button twice within 10 sec.

Mine is a TDV8 07 and to put it into no internal sensors mine says lock once as normal wait a second or so and press lock again. No sound from the car but alarm has never gone off ever when set like that with the dogs in the car. It is not quick succession for mine but a moment in between both. Good luck

i am the same on both my TD6 and TDV8 i press the lock button twice and i leave the dogs in the car no problem!!

the only other thing is that both my car alarms have been knackered without me knowing!!...lol..  Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

page 29 in my manual says -

If superlocking is required, but NOT interior
space protection, press the lock button on the
remote control twice within 10 seconds (or turn
the key in the driver’s door lock towards the
rear of the vehicle, twice within the same time
period). Allow for a two-second delay before
pressing the lock button a second time.

On a slightly different note, can you turn off the alarm with the key in the door?

right... I'm going to have a good play (coooeerrr ) with my locks

but pretty certain that twice (either in quick succession or within 10 seconds) makes no difference to the interior sensors.

In fact page 12 of my owners handbook explains the single or double locking using this method but nothing about disarming interior sensors.

I can only assume it's a model year thingy. shame really as it seams a faff to have to go through the car menu settings (page 14) on the dashboard every time I want to lock the car with the dogs in. Double pressing the key fob is much easier.

You should also disable sensors when you take your FFRR on ferries or transporters.

You'll know if its worked - the red light on the mirror will stay lit for around two seconds. That's what mine does. As has been said- arm the car normally, then press the lock button again and you should see the above.

Nope No amount of double pressing has got this to work. Only going through the vehicle settings on the dash board TFT display.

Does any one else with. 2011MY onwards have the same problem? Or am I still missing a trick?

well, I have the official answer and its quite opposite to what you may logically think.

It's also important for 2010 on owners who may not have realised they are not locking their car properly.

Contrary to pretty much every other alarm remote and car on the face of the planet. Pressing the lock button on the key fob ONCE only partially protects the car. ie NO internal sensors and NO interior deadlock.

To FULLY lock the car (assuming no kids/dogs in) you have to press the key fob TWICE. This deadlocks AND arms the interior sensors.

So, like most people I suspect, I had been leaving my car only partially protected by pressing the fob once when it should be twice (contrary to earlier models (and most other cars!!))
