Seatbelt Tension on Facelift RR

Hi,

Can anyone please comment. After unfastening the driver's seatbelt (any of the seatbelts) are these cars known for the belts not reeling in well?

The driver's seatbelt on mine pretty much just hangs there after being unfastened and needs to be slowly fed back in by hand. Seems faulty to me but the local main dealer technician has said that having checked it, if the seat position is altered, it reels in ok and is within acceptable limits (never had to alter the seat position after unfastening a belt before so as to get the seatbelt to reel back in).

Thanks

Allllllll seatbelts ever made do this, it's just age, or crap and dust mixing with the grease in the winding spring.
On my disco I stripped mine down, cleaned he mech and put it all back together, made it better, but still not great

A new one isn't that much, loads on ebizzle that people are breaking

Yes they do go faulty alot... Two things to do, Remove the B pillar cover and clean the seatbelt guides (little aluminium bars) as they do get covered in a sticky thick dust... if that fails to work then change the belt (which we do as well as cleaning the bars usually) Belts are a very reasonable £65, hence why we tend to change the belt at the same time as cleaning because of the labour time...

An easy DIY job Thumbs Up Remove the B pillar cover,,, Tork screws and clips, remove the seat belt and replace Thumbs Up There are no pyrotechnics in the seat belts so no airbag worries...
