Try all the variants and include a lpg'd bmw 4.4 V8 (seriously good value for money if you can find a pristine one).

Good luck. 03 4.4 V8 petrol / lpg. 1st of many hopefully. I love my Rangie

Budget has now gone up to £15k - £17k as I've decided to sell my bike.
With a baby on the way, I can't really justify having 2 cars and a bike. Plus the bike insurance, tax and maintenance money can go in to the Rangie maintenance fund.

I did some calculations and I reckon I can justify a 4.2 SC.

Say I did 10k business miles per year @ 40p / mile = £4,000 expenses paid.

10k miles in 4.4 @ 20mpg with fuel @ £6.27/gallon = £3,135 of fuel used.
10k miles in 4.2 SC @ 15mpg with fuel @ £6.27/gallon = £4,180 of fuel used.

So, assuming I average 15mpg for my 10k business miles. I'll be paying £180/year out of my own pocket to own the glorious 4.2 SC.

Is that an AJV8 or the BMW engine? Mileage? Price?

I'm seeing your calculations and I can see you're clearly trying to justify the SC to yourself! Thumbs Up

But, will you use it purely for business use, or will you mix it with non-business?

I was in a similar position with my SC, as I have a fuel card, which as you probably know requires you to offset the cost of that (classed as a BIC on your P11d) against business miles.
I "claimed" for 14,000 business miles, but even though most of my mileage was, ahem, business miles, I still had to pay the tax man just under a grand.

Now you may say, that's a small amount to pay for the privilege of driving an amazing car, but I felt I was already contributing enough to Mr Osbourne and chums, so I switched to a TDV8.........

I expect some money back this year! Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

No no, I will probably do half of those miles in my S2000 anyway. The Rangie will be a family car mainly but I will use it for longer business trips where the S2000 get's tiresome.

I don't think I'll get a TDV8 in to my budget and I really don't like diesel engines. I just have an irrational hatred of them.

Do you claim mileage or do you have a fuel card?
I'm guessing if you use 2 cars for business, you're claiming mileage?

In which case your figures might stack up.

I share(ed) your hatred of diesel, but the TDV8 really is an immense piece of kit! Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Yeah, I claim it back. It's a pain but it means I don't have to nominate a specific car.

Am i correct in thinking that a remapped TDV8 will not be that far behind the SC in the 0-60 sprint? -----------------------------------------------------------
