If it was just the compressor and you've done the ring it should just be a case of clearing the fault.

Cheers

You have all the doors shut when trying the compressor?

No LED's means hard fault. Req a dealer, RAC, hawkeye, faultmate etc to reset. Once this is done you will be sorted for all heights. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Well after all that it didn't work!
The fault would not clear and now i'm left with the back end sitting on the bump stops so i'm worse off than when i took it in to the garage.
It was making some horrible noises when i drove it home, i hope i haven't caused any damage driving it like it is.

Back to the drawing board!!!!!!

What did they try and clear it with and what was the exact fault?

I use this and have never had a problem clearing faults, excellent for diagnostics to.

Iv'e no idea what they used when trying to clear the fault. They are a good outfit, it's Green Oval in Leeds. However i would have preferred it if they would have explained that i may risk having the suspension sagging down should the re-set fail.

The exact fault so they tell me is the compressor. Not sure about the code number.

Back to basics, have you checked the fuses and compressor relay?
The fuses you need to check are Fuse 57 15A on front board and Maxifuse M18 50A on the rear fuseboard.

This is the rear fuseboard.

This is the compressor relay, number 4. above the rear fuses.
For now remove relay and then push back in.

Thanks for those diagrams.
Had a look but they are ok. Been underneath it as we'll to check for any damage as its sitting so low.
All seems ok but I'm a bit nervous about the air bags as they are empty and are creased up, I hope they don't spilt!

Was the compressor working (albeit lazily) before you replaced the ring?

It wasn't really working but it was held at the right height. Did jack it up at the front causing it to sag but it levelled itself out again after a few mins. Now it's completely knackerd, it appears I've made it worse by taking it to bits even though I replaced the piston ring and gave it all a good general clean up.
I removed the relay as suggested above and all I got was the compressor running for a few seconds but nothing else.
The Indy I took it to said to reset it they have to open the valves and let the air out, clear the fault then the compressor kicks in and raises it, obviously with me it didn't happen.

It's interesting you got the compressor to work for a few seconds after removing the relay. I assume this is the first time you have got the compressor to activate since you dismantled it
Could this point to the problem?

Yes mate that is an interesting point, though the garage did try another one . I guess they are bog standard relay, I might nick one from somewhere else just tho try it.

It's a 50A relay, not sure there is another one on the car.
Another thing, was there any signs of corrosion on the plug and socket for the power to the compressor, water damage?
