Non Land Rover brake discs

I'd like some advice please as I need to replace discs front and rear on my 2002 L322 V8 and obviously want to do this at the most economic price but don't want to compromise on the quality. Is it really necessary to buy genuine Land Rover parts via my local dealer or are the discs and pads available on eBay, etc decent quality and long lasting? Obviously I will be replacing the pads as well but would I need to replace the sensors and sensor wires? The brake warning light hasn't come on so its likely that the sensors will probably be in tact. I'm prepared to spend what I need to on the right parts and intend to fit them myself but I really need decent advice please.

Assume you've seen the 25% off code for Euro Car Parts ?
Does that bring the OEM ones nearer the price of ones you've seen on eBay ?

Personally I like keeping to genuine parts ? Whistle Alcohol and eBay is never a good mix

I really need to know if there's any difference in the quality. Also where could I buy genuine parts other than via my MD?

I think they're about £30 + vat but this was a few months ago. I don't know if the petrol has different brakes.

Message Dan, he's normally very quick in responding. Good bloke to deal with also. He'll be more able to tell you the difference in pads as I think he sells OEM also.

Please please please think long and hard about where and who you purchase brakes from on eBay... There are some very very dangerous crap out there for sale by some unscrupulous sellers! Some are even fake branded items! Shocked

So my advice would be... Even if it costs slightly more, go to a reputable dealer, be that MD or Euro Car Parts depending on your budget...

And finally remember, pads are most important as cheap ones will overheat quicker... So i always buy the very best quality pads available and the best quality discs my budget allows... Thumbs Up

I agree that you need to buy the best you can and never scrimp on brakes and tyres. Hence why I'm asking around for measured opinions from those who know. I've seen vented ones too but I think it's best to go with the original spec discs as these were how they were meant to be.

Craig, I completely agree. I didn't buy mine from anywhere, I bought them from Dan and took his advice.

I think Rich is trying to do the same thing.

I got Genuine parts from Dan when I did mine - with free postage (v.heavy !) - no messing about and I didn't consider them to be expensive. As for the sensor - I believe it's recommended to change in any case as it can self destruct on removal (and it was only something like twelve quid !).

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?
