400000miles wasn't in normal use and not the sdv6 iirc but the 2.7 tdv6 and almost any engine can do that if it spent many hours a day sat at 50-60 Wink

I disagree that reliability does affect resale though but that's my opinion I guess and yes we have gone a wee bit OT Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

THe SDV6 is a superb, powerful, torquey and reliable engine as is the SDV8. (Full stop)

Talk of a properly serviced new ever present SDV6 engine being unreliable is just nonsense Rolling Eyes

I guess a finger in the wind type question but any ideas what kind of depreciation is likely in 6 months time?!

15%?
30%?!

Do people think these will be like most FFRR of old and drop like a stone or will demand mean that values might maintain in the short term? Interested to hear peoples thoughts....

edit: by which I mean it should hang on to value in short time due to supply/demand issues, however only time and the market can decide how it will go...

They don't actually depreciate as heavily as they might, given their initial price. There are quicker ways to lose money on expensive cars.

Buy what you want and enjoy the six months, probably expect to loose the 20% vat after six months min but you don't know what demand will be like as these cars will still all be under a year old. Might still command a premium enjoy. Gone

It might also depend on what journeys you'll be taking.

City living all day, may as well get the cheaper smaller engine & spend it on something else like an SE upgrade Thumbs Up

Motorway, climbing hills, over-taking get the V8, you'll love every day of the 6 months with that torque & sod the re-sale value Whistle

Unless waiting times reach a year or more, I can't imagine anyone paying a near new price for a used one, after all most of us would choose another colour or other option if buying new. It's usually the case that a used one doesn't quite have all the toys spec you wish it had.
If I had to buy a 6 months used, the price would have to be very attractive (at least 10K saving as a ballpark) otherwise I'd rather wait & get what I want.
Bear in mind in another year or so, bigger discounts will be available from brokers & dealers, so a RRP of say 80K now, may actually cost only £70 to 75K in the future if you shop around Thumbs Up

6 month old is nearly new, I'd go for the V8 I personally wouldn't entertain such a car without a decent engine. The V6 in £75k RR doesn't stack up for me, it's a Discovery engine and entry spec for a RR. Just my humble opinion Cool
