Best Engine for resale in 6 months time?

Hi folks,
I've got an April build slot and until the end of this month to confirm the spec. My job's recently changed so I'll most likely only keep the RR for 6 months or so. Fully appreciate I'm going to take a hammering in depreciation but would be interested to hear your thoughts on which engine is likely to be most desirable in Oct/Nov as a second hand car?

I'm only going for the Vogue spec, with a few options (sunroof, fog lights etc) but unsure whether I'll struggle to sell a 3.0l engine or if I'm likely to re-coup the extra £7k for the 4.4l come sale time. Not too fussed about the difference in the driving experience as I've got an impractical weekend car for that! Minimising depreciation is key - but I'm committed to completing my order, if only in my own mind!

I would say 4.4 SDV8.
Mainly because when you sell it it'll be around the price of a 3.0 and I know which I'd rather have if they cost the same...

I'd Say the V8..

If you can afford the new one being stingey with the V6 doesn't seem right to me, would make me think someone was cutting corners or had a scottish blood transfusion... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Most L405s are being ordered as 4.4s, so they are never going to keep their £7k premium, TDV6 will be fine, second hand market will appreciate the economy: RR people are rarely that fussed about performance (Classic VM diesel was case in point!) treat yourself to Vogue SE spec from the cost difference, that will help resale more than the engine IMHO. Only possible problem could be arrival of SDV6 hybrid next year, which could dent values a little...

It's all about the flash and how low the never-never payments are unfortunately. Can't imagine why you wouldn't go for the 4.4.

I can see the hybrid being more popular where there are tax benefits to it (I have a friend in Belgium who's ordering one to replace his 2011 4.4 purely because it will cost him less to run - not sure of the finer details).

What would really put me off a 3.0 versus a 4.4 is the lack of active suspension. This and the extra performance of the 4.4 will result in a decent premium for the 4.4 in the second hand market.

Not sure that's entirely true: the 3.0 works fine in the Disco/Semi-Skimmed RR and people were hyperbolic about the 4.4 when it was introduced in the L322, even though that was no quicker than the new 3.0l is. The 4.4 is also reputedly a little less fleet of foot than the 3.0 due to excess weight, and I would rather take advantage of some of the new options e.g. the upgraded Meridian system... each to his own I sps!

guessing you're referring to the active anti roll bars? All RRs come with adaptive dynamics/air suspension etc

From what I've heard the lean isn't too noticeable...
