i've had practice on a speed gun and i've been told that the speed is 'caught' by the gun but an officer has to physically stop you to give you a ticket...static speed cameras have the speed and a pic so the fine comes via the post.. ... - .- -.

they can hit you from a flyover with a video ticket, its the same as a speed camera, but if you have ask to see the calibration for the camera... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

For a hand held gun i would have thought that they would have a bike or car a bit further up the road.

my old man had one from a gun in a van in derby through the post, asked for evidence, which they sent but it was not possible to tell who was driving, exchanged a few letters with them and they dropped it, 8 or so years back now though.

On fixed cameras such as specs, gatso or truvelo they will post it. But its always a good call to ask for the evidence. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Rip the first one up if it comes.

If you get repeated letters then ask for the evidence.

Not so i am afraid but there are quite a few steps you can take that may result in you not being prosecuted, a good book is the Motorists survival handbook and I also have the website of a motoring solicitor who offers 3 letters that pretty much quash any speeding accusation if you are not pulled over. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

You also need to ask for the type approval of the gun, calibration certificates for the camera for that month, week and day, the dates of the officers training and whether he has had and attended the refresher courses he is obliged to. Also there has to be a history of X amount of accidents at that exact spot which is pretty inconvenient for them as they prefer nice straight bits of roads and accidents happen more on bends. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

Joker - I'm afraid there is some mis - information in the replies above.

You do not have to be stopped.
If you are to be considered for prosecution, the registered keeper will be sent a "Notice of Intended Prosecution" - they cannot tear it up or ignore it.
There does not have to be a history of collisions at the location the check was carried out.

As with anything like this, ask the right people for advice - because otherwise you may get slightly tainted "pub conversation" in response . . . . .

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

On a public road, presumably. Laughing

That's assuming there's a public road in Scotland that Mick doesn't already own. Mr. Green Si. <This is my name.
