That is just such a coincedence. That looks almost exactly like the "stone" that is going to hit my windscreen. Honestly, the Cops should be spending less time chasing speeders and more time looking for unsafe loads on builders trucks!!! Wink FullFat Porridge

No need to break it as it makes a right mess when they take it out

Just say you heard a big cracking noise and now the heated windscreen doesn't work and your worried it will
Crack while driving.

£70 lighter and a screen that defrosts in less that 2 mins plus no mess Thumbs Up

I tried that exact same approach with my insurance company (Axa) and they were having none of it (said they would consider sending out an assessor due to the cost! - I think it might be 'cos I've only been with them 2 months?). Cheers

my screen was a bit sketchy and had some lines on the DS which didnt cleat properly, i was going to see if the dealers would do it under warranty, but before i got round to it i did actually get hid by a stone under the wiper, and a massive crack suddenly appeard whilst on the A50 stretching from the wiper half way up the screen.

ho hum, £65 quid lighter and a new Pilkington screen courtest of Autoglass/swiftcover(axa), rather than £0 and LR fix. Aparently not the first replacement it had had either. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I need a new one but I've had a bad experience with window fitters in the past. Can I insist on an OE screen and if so, who's the best at fitting these days?

I had autoglass do mine at their workshop in derby. they made a pretty decent fist of it too.

I asked what screen they were fitting and they said that it would be an OE spec one as the Splintex ones werent much cop. Rolling Eyes

Sure enough I got a Pilkinton screen, they make the LR screens. AFAIK the only difference is the branding. one says LR and the other Pilk. Thumbs Up

Would recommend them, even though tbh i dint have a choice as Swiftcover insist on them or they will only pay £100 towards the replacement. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
