Is it icy there? I have seen mine stop working in heavy frost or ice. Previously..

It's easy to diagnose:

1. Once you have activated the front PDC - put your ear up to each sensor and listen for a clicking sound.
2. If none of them are clicking then it is likely to be a break in the wiring loom
3. If some are clicking then the chances are it is a single sensor failure

I replaced one a couple of weeks ago and couldn't find anything useful on YouTube to explain how to remove the front bumper so I used the workshop manual (which isn't brilliant but you can work it out). It can be done in 10 minutes once you know how Thumbs Up - remove grille, remove about a dozen screws and don't forget the 2 hidden ones behind the plastic caps, remove the screw in each wheel well of off she pops. Be careful the wiring isn't very long so you'll need something to rest the bumper on Exclamation

A dealer is currently replacing one of mine and said that the replacement will need spraying up in body colour. Is that correct, do replacement sensors need spraying?

If you want them to match. Don't think you can get replacement sensors in "all" colours. If you need to know for sure check with Duckworths Dan. .

Leave it in park. There is a button, bottom left, to switch on the park sensors. Thumbs Up Previously..

When I lost the front sensors, it was the PDC ECU in the boot that needed to be replaced.

ok mate, i did know about the button but just thought that used if you wanted to keep them on whilst driving Question Question . the rears are working no problem; so dont know if that rules out the ecu in the boot Question unless there are seperate ones for front and rear Question Question

On mine (2007MY) that will not activate the fronts, reverse has to be selected or switch pressed before system is switched on

Question well when i get in mine, i normally just start it, and if i put it in reverse, it works straight away, and if i pull forward it also works straight away Question . i dont have to switch anything on for it to do this Question; the light comes on on the switch without me having to press anything. i thought if you wanted to have them on whilst driving, you just needed to press the switch, and this would alert you when approching someone or something, and vice versa.?

however i am a newbie to this wonderfull motorcars, so hell, what do i know. Very Happy Embarassed Very Happy

so please correct me if again i have it completly wrong Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Bow down

To get to drive you transition through (assuming you leave in park) reverse, think this is what triggers the system.

My routine is start engine, select reverse and back out - during this time both front and rear are active - drive off and exceed the trigger speed and the system is deactivated. when coming home I have to manually turn the system on or select reverse (if system has been turned off manually reverse will not activate system until a power cycle)

yes, when i start, i jus put in reverse and on comes the light and the rears are working, when i pull forward, up until they stopped, the fronts came on without having to do anything else. when i start driving, after a short while the light goes off. i guess i will just do the checks as i expect it is either the sensors themselves or the rear ecu

Thumbs Up
