I'm going to see a 2006 TD6 Autobiography tomorrow. It's a 06 plate with 100000 on the clock.

Mix of Full Dealer and independent service history but it looks straight and tidy.

currently priced at £14000.

Is this a reasonable price and would I be looking at a new gearbox soon with that type of mileage??

Always pays to keep a bit back for a gearbox !!

Check rear wheel arches (lips) for rust........water ingress in boot (ie lift up the spare wheel cover and have a feel about).....

Dampness around sat nav and tv units etc in left hand cubby box in boot.

Check all stuff works, the blower fan, air suspension, etc etc.

There are a few pointers in the wiki as well.

I paid £13k 13 months ago for a 2003 1 owner 115k miles Td6 Vogue with 12 months warranty,

Have a good run in it and see if it feels right.

Drive a few, and you'll start to know whats what..........

I had an 04 Td6 but sold it last year to another forum member.

The 06 is mostly the same exempt dash , front bumper etc so will give it a good going over.

The only thing I'm not currently up to speed on is the price, but considering what you spent 13 months ago it appears the price for this one is reasonable!

Hopefully Gary will come along later with an expert view on its value

I prob paid a bit more than what I could have done, but the car was 1 owner and clean, and dealer was good, so..........

Think the price you have is not a million miles away, but again, depends on how nice it is.

Hi - I'm checking the market at the moment.
I reckon that's too much given the mileage - regardless whether it's an Autobiography or not (is it really one ? It will still be susceptable to the same problems as any other of that age, and nobody will be able to offer you a worthy warranty.
I've decided to wait to spring as I've seen alot of vehicles for sale that I wouldn't touch with a barge pole - doubtless they're trying to cash in because of winter ?
On the prices front, there appears to be a "squeeze" on vehicles of this age as prices of TDV8's come down - and they're becoming more readily available.
Another thing on an '06 car, ensure it is in the lower tax bracket - as if it isn't you may as well get a TDV8 !

In any case - if it's the car for you - buy it and enjoy it !

Well just got back from viewing.

Overall the car looked and drove well. No signs of knocking/ rumbling from usual balljoints/ track rod ends. Bodywork was all good and interior was in good nick also.

The only 2 things I picked up were:-

Loads of reddish/ rusty dust on inside of alloys which made me think the pads/ discs might be needing changed, and

On start up I got a message that said " Air Suspension fault" . The lights on the centre console air suspension indicator were also out?? I told the owner who said it was a first and he switched off the engine and restarted. This time no message and lights come on showing the height level in the middle.

I tested the air suspension movement and it all worked fine, but afterwards when we went to restart the car it came up with the same fault message.

Could this be the pump on its way out or air suspension ECU?? Anyone have any similar problems??

I thought if the pump was on its way out, the system tried to get to the new suspension height you'd requested, and times out after a few mins, then shows a message.

ie it does work initially, so no message on startup, only after it times out.

Could be wrong.

Don't suppose you can get the faults read by a diagnostic system ? Seller prob won't be keen........

You should be able to see if the disks need changing. If its been stood a bit, they could have had surface rust due to the damp weather !

You would have to look at fault codes. It could be all kinds of issues. Small leak in an airbag, the compressor needs overhaul, a valve sticking a bit, temperature (overheating) sensor starting to kick in or malfuction, leak in a hose etc. etc.

Hi, I cycled the car through all the heights positions and it worked fine.

The compressor re-build is not too bad, either the "cheap" way or use the kit Meerbusch is selling. If that is it. If it is airbags, it is a bit more expensive (I just replaced both front struts on mine). But it could also be a simple air hose leak/connector loose. I suggest to get the fault codes read to see what that indicates. And maybe also jack it to off-road height, switch everything off and listen for leaks (in a quiet area/garage). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

I'd barter and quote the cost of a new compressor, then get a repair kit from Meerbusch  2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

I had a similar experience shortly after having bought mine (also an '06 MY car - which I believe have a different compressor to the earlier cars).
Expecting the worst, it turned out to be a faulty filter on the compressor - total to fix ? - £160 all in.
Never had any problem after that -
