Would you do it

If you were invited to a family event that offered a free bar would you just drink your normal night out beverage or go overboard and just get full of it coz of the free bar
I can see the point if it were a large company that was having the bash and having to foot the bill tho ====================================

"Open Mike Night " sounded like a lot of fun until i found out i was going to an Autopsy

I'd just drink my normal amount. It would depend more on where it is as unless i can get a taxi home for less than £20 then i'll drive and no drink instead. Better to remind everyone of what they were like the night before! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

It depends on the company.

I don't normally drink much, but if I'm bored, annoyed or both I tend to drink more. If the company is good, then I'll go with the flow either way.

Ordinarily, my body has a hard time dealing with hangovers these days, so I try to avoid them.

Hang on, Mick. You don't drink, so why ask? Laughing Si. <This is my name.

I would just drink my normal amount... I would also take some empty bottles to fill Laughing
The operative word is family. I would never take advantage of their generosity. But like all families you know who the ar Censored holes are and who will get pished and take advantage. I am sure the majority would appreciate the gesture of the free bar. Previously..

I have done the very thing a few years back for my local wedding reception.
We rented the bar in Cleethorpes Blundell Park (Grimsby Town) and I told the staff the tap is on me.

There were approx. 60 people who started with the usual pints and red wines and then quickly progressed to double/ triple single malts and other such things once they realised the tap was free.

Next day, I paid the bill for just over 3 k for the drinks only! Neutral

Would be a normal night, however, from experience at various weddings the evening can turn pretty blurry! Mick, you got a wedding to pay for??

Pitsnow, your dog seems a lot more loveable than your relatives. If you want him looking after for a weekend just drop him off at my place near Luzern. I'll happily pay for the dog food as long as he doesn't take advantage. Laughing

I remember a cousin's wedding back in the 80's that I went to. Cousin of a well-to-do uncle.

Reception was a free bar and food. I remember him saying that he got totally fleeced on that. Not only did some of the guests take advantage, but the bar staff fiddled the bill to their own advantage as well.

If I was paying, I'd make a certain quantity of free wine or whatever available and let the guests pay for their own hangovers after that. Si. <This is my name.

There was only a minority of my relatives there; most of them were my new English friends from my wife’s side! Whistle Laughing
As you may know, the free tap is common in Switzerland for a wedding. In the UK however, that idea is looked at as lunacy! Rolling Eyes
As for Lily, (the Berner Sennenhund) she will get a little brother in January. And no, I would never give here to anyone. Lily is the living prove that the ideas of the late Elisabeth Kuebler – Ross are possible.
Now I better stop as I have been hitting on the Tomintoul 27 years old (yes, I found one in Singapore) before I get too philosophical Rolling with laughter
