Correct battery when replaced - six months ago ?

Ive had the same problem a couple of times.

Put key in and turn to start, but nothing (cant remember hearing any noises).

The key will turn all the way without any problems/stopping/catching.

Try a couple of times then it will start.

I always take the key fully out of the ignition before trying again.

Maybe before you take the vaseline out and go to the stealers, take the immo ECU connector out and give it a good clean (contact cleaner) and see if that makes a difference. Maybe it is just a bad contact in there considering the age of the car. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Hi mate, can you describe exactly what happens when you turn the key? I presume you hear the click as the key goes in the slot, then do you have all the lights on the dash lit? DO they all stay lit or do the ones that should go out go out? Where are you based? Im in Manchester with All-Comms if needed? Just describe exactly what happens when you go through the start up sequence. If you want to talk on the phone mate drop me a PM

Also be very careful when unplugging and re plugging ECU's whilst battery is still connected. Even when battery negative off the Immob ECU will draw a small current from the BCM that has battery in.

I have just experienced similar. When turning the key all I got was a buzz/whirr/bleep sound and starter motor didn't even try to turn. Battery and starter motor all good.

Had to be towed to the dealer. It turned out it was the ignition switch in the console below the key.

Cost £170 + labor to replace.

Didn't think of that but RF10 has a point there, could be the starter switch itself. Again use contact cleaner spray on it.

As for working on the ECU, correct they hold charge and it is best to take the battery poles of, hold the cable clamps together for at least 10 seconds to drain the charges (and clear fault codes) and then work on the ECU connector. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Have you tried it in Neutral rather than Park?

that was the same problem i had a few months back,gave it a good soak in contact cleaner,problem solved have hawkeye diagnostics for l322 td6 in the manchester area ,pm for deatalis.
