I washed the car and it is literally Spattered all over with thick tar spots, must be from all the damned pot hole repairs been done locally, I think they're too big for even a clay bar to take off, will need to get some tar remover from Halfords first I think. I was going to clay the car anyway, now I have an excuse.

White spirit seems to work well, or failing that petrol on the worst tar spots.

Yes I suppose petrol is always a good substitute, albeit expensive and dangerous to use while smoking (not that I smoke!)

clay bar, nah far too expensive, try red diesel or if you are feeling flush WD40 |

I've been claying and pc'ing the RR a Panel per day so I can spend an hour or two and fully de-swirl.

A couple of coats of decent wax after polishing is a must. Especially after using SRP (Autogym Super Resin Polish) as it cuts the paintwork quite severely, thats why it works so well.

I also use it to swap and scrub out my gun barrels, disolves lead fouling and gunpowder deposits. Discovery 4 HSE
