SC all the way Gaz... As ive only covered 6000m in mine in 15/16months it makes perfect sense... But i will disagree with you that the 4.4 is better than the SC as the SC has a far better low down torque curve meaning a better ride for your passengers (less lumpy pull aways) I always find the NA Jag engine/throttle feels more like an on off switch on pull away, which is not what a quality motorcar is all about... Just my opinion Wink

If we use the same kind of thinking then we should all be driving p38's. not bother repairing them and then when they fail at anything more than a £100 repair scrap them on fleabay.

I got a td6 as I don't pay 1.40 a litre. I pay .9 factor that in and the difference is very easy as there is no cheaper option for petrol at the minute Smile

Don't get me wrong i love petrol and diesel but sometimes diesel just wins Smile I just love low down torque Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Craig you have also missed the point. I am not comparing the SC with the AJV8 (Or TDV8) I comparing the AJV8 with the TDV8 the SC is a different matter entirely and should only be considered if you are happy with the MPG.

So some may prefer the massive torque of the TDV8 or the Torque Curve of the SC but that's not the point. The point is very few people have experienced the normally aspirated AJV8 and the excellent driving experience for a massive discount over the identical TDV8 and 20mpg possible. Win every way Thumbs Up

Get the rare but cheap normally aspirated 305BHP AJV8 I actually prefer it to the Supercharged version but thats also an amazing engine. I like low down V8 Grunt combined with ULTRA smoothness Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Have you taken into account the higher tax band? I pay £260 a year on my TD6. Aren't the later ones (2006 onwards) nearer £470 a year these days? 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

I agree with Will if you are running bio at 0.9pl the numbers change quite a bit. I wish JLR would develop the engines for 100% bio as well (if they are not already doing that of course in their push to increase the environmental friendly approach). For now a lot of people can't or won't run it on bio but if you do, it changes the numbers of course. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Well, having had 11mpg from a 3.9 V8 Range Rover Classic I said "never again" to a big petrol 4x4.

I know its strictly not what we are comparing here, but that was it for me. I had a Td5 after that and now a Td6.

I understand all the points being made.

Perhaps I'll change my mind over time........ 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Yes its easy to see why people would choose Diesel over Petrol per se but this is a specific comparison between two specific cars and the price difference saving (petrol fund) on purchase.

I have Mustang V8's that do 10mpg when driven hard but that is not the story here.....
