United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Zambezi Silver
Steering squeak when turning UPDATED

Hi all,

Perhaps you can help. I have a December '06 TDV8 77k on the clock. Full dealer service.

This morning when taking kids to school there is a new noise. It is a loud squeak when turning left. It only does it when the steering wheel is straight ahead and then I turn left. The sharper I turn the louder the squeak.

It doesn't do it when the car is turning right!!!

What can it be?

On a side note for the past couple of weeks, on a cold start up, there is an odd noise from the engine, which sounds like a small alarm it goes beep, beep, beep and then stops for about 10 seconds then it does it again, once the car has been running for about 5 mins it stops. On second thoughts it sounds more like a quiet air horn, but is pretty rhythmical! Haven't a clue what that is

Mr. Green

Any help is always appreciated.

Thanks in advance Range rover tdv8 56. Vogue

Is it just one short squeak or a continuous noise until the steering wheel is straight again? Previously..

Bottom balljoint is a likely suspect

That doesn't sound too bad and ties in with fact it is pulling left ever o slightly.

I have a warranty direct warranty, any thought on whether that would be covered??? Range rover tdv8 56. Vogue

If you are not sure on how to check it, Ask your garage to have a look to confirm, it should take all of 1 minute ! Then phone warranty direct and ask. Thumbs Up Previously..

Garage have just phoned and its both ball joints. Specifically both front lower arms and both rear arm bushes.

Just on the phone to warranty direct to see if they will pay! I suspect not!

Total price for the Job is £454.08 I have no idea if that is good or bad-any thoughts Range rover tdv8 56. Vogue

Wow what a difference, car drives in a straight line, no vibration at all through the wheel. There was before. All squeaks, bangs and knocks have gone.

Happy it's back to 100%
Sad it cost almost £500
