Virgin 100mb

A few days ago I swapped my Vigin HD Box for the TIVO one and at the same time they replaced my old Modem with the new Virgin Modem/Router that is required for the 100mbps service.

I was getting 20mbps via the Modem but am now getting 109mbps download and 5mbps upload. (9ms Ping!) Pages load astonishlingly fast and TV/Video watching is as live.

Highly recommended. Thumbs Up

THe Vigin "Super Hub" Modem/Router is good but is not as powerful (WIFI Range Wise) as the Top of the range Netgear Router we already had. We therefore used the Super Hub just as the Modem and the Netgear Product as the Router getting best of both worlds. Just connect one to tother... Thumbs Up

Due to their MASSIVE debt they aren't rolling out anywhere at the minute Sad

Is the TIVO box any better than teh V+ shoddy stuff slow and horrible??
Cable co's never could get the hang of a fast running box!!

When you start using wishlists and stuff gaz you'll wonder how you lived without tivo!!

I had it years ago just as the yanks started adopting it and it was an amazing bit of kit even back then!

And im stuck with 9meg down and 9meg up and 10ms pings!! seesh whats the world coming to!! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
Mantec Sump Guard, Rigid Load liner, MY10 BT upgrade.

Funny how it all works Arenaitch, I am less than five miles from the centre of Winchester yet only achieve a third of what you are getting.

Anyhow I thought it was Scummers and Skates ?? And you know why people from Pompey are called skates ?? .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

I'm sure the good readers of this forum would rather not be revolted by tales of how sailors of old, shall we say, 'survived' at sea without their womenfolk and so came by the label Skates!

Anyway, I just refer to the area as the smelly end of the M27 Smile

Have to admit to being very pleasantly surprised that BT Infinity was available - especially considering that most telephone wires here are strung between poles!

...but as for mobile signal, I mean any mobile signal at all, from anybody, just don't get me started!!! 2012 FFRR Westminster Orkney / Ivory and absolutely no pimp-glass!

My download speed (if speed is the right term here) is 0.480MBPS and upload at 0.244MPBS and expected to be grateful for that.
BT had promised to upgrade the local exchange which could have increased speed to 4MBPS, but instead spent a fortune giving those who already enjoyed very fast broadband a super fast service.
