What do you guys think Bio Diesel for TDV8 yes or no?


If yes where do you get your Bio Diesel?

Depends on your country and where you buy it from. Some places not much less than normal diesel and others much much more Wink

And also where in the country you are Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

As above test it and just don't use full tanks for a few. As your in warranty make sure you flush it from the system before taking it in for warranty work or services. Ie run the tank down and only stick £20 in at a time, 3 times should dilute it enough to flush the system out to stop them complaining about it and from smelling it in the workshop Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Mix in some 2so to help with keeping things lined, and a little petrol in winter if it gels up. I'd not put more than 1litre of petrol into a full tank of bio though.

To see if it gels just get an old glass jar and half fill it with normal bio, then do the same in another but with the right amount of petrol and 2so and leave them outside somewhere safe and you'll see if it gels up. It will ony affect starting to be honest as the fuel pumps soon heat up the fuel to a good temp just through the power of being heavily compressed Smile

Mine is a td6 though. Don't bother with any of those way exchanger type things. Waste of time. Fbh should be fine on it as well.

I've replaced the secondary pump and in tank pump on mine.

To be honest the secondary is still perfectly fine(I misdiagnosed, the internal tank pump was at fault!)

Another thing some people use is bio winteriser to help keep it liquid in very cold temps Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Scotland 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Java Black

I've got a Landcruiser 4.2TD Amazon that runs on straight vegetable oil. All I do is add maybe £10 of diesel to the veg oil in the winter to stop it geling. I fitted a pre heater kit to the full line so the car starts on diesel from a small secondary tank, then once it's up to temp it switches over automatically to the heated veg oil. I can honestly say it runs much better on the veg oil than diesel. Much smoother, much quieter and no loss of power. I've done about 80,000 miles on it and I tow cars on trailers all the time......not a single issue and I'm getting veg oil free of charge. I've often thought of trying this on my TD6.

I've got a friend making his own biodiesel......haven't been brave enough to try it yet.......I'm a bit worried about quality control!

Won't work on the td6 as its a DI and not IDI setup. Pressures and pump designs and tolerances are miles apart. Te veg even if you could warm it and the lines up enough would still kill the pumps after a short while.

You can buy testing kits for bio and even look on YouTube for simple tests you can do on samples of it Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I've been looking into it for some time now and done lengthy research into the chemical composition (which are very long strings) so I could make bio conforming to legislation. you're allowed to produce 2500 litres for personal consumption before duty becomes applicable but it must not contain more than a tiny percentage of fossil product (1% I believe) and this is very strict indeed.

It's a good allowance Smile allows a td6 to cover 12,600miles at 23mpg which isn't far off most people's average looking at fuelly Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Then that's what the car was designed to run on. Anything that would render the factory warranty invalid is a no no in my books. However feel free to run your cars on whatever cheap fuel you can find if it works and your keeping it.
