The reason manufacturers don't make them like is is that it needs to be the right combo of performance, fuel consumption and durability of parts eg brakes, etc. It's always a balance.

Some of the earlier posts about the poor running after mapping could also be due to a modified map having been used with out of date base software. That is why good tuners will take a look at the original software and work out where best to go with the new map. Most tuning equipment will log the software and the hardware coding to help do this.
