Like the way of thinking... Feel the same sometimes when i look at some customers tyres!!!

Tyres, brakes, wipers, steering...

All things that you should check almost every day - yet so many people rely on a once yearly minimum safety standard check to act as a replacement for common sense.

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Vogue SE Supercharged Java Black

As I said, I quickly read the LR paperwork when I took out the policy, but it's not until you need to claim that you discover it does not cover cover everything. FYI it does cover 'some' wear and tear items, as it an MOT insurance and not just a warranty!

And no I'm not surprised about the fuel economy, but after 20months of ownership, with the other recent items that are playing up, the 15mpg contributes to the feeling tha maybe it's time to move on.

I do know how you feel - and I'm just pulling your leg a bit...

But some of what I say is true isn't it? 15mpg - well, that's what they do. It's not enough now with the price of fuel this high, but the only way to really avoid that is get a Honda C50 - 200 mpg - but at no more than 40mph...

Range Rover's are expensive to run - so are most luxury cars. Things go wrong - on the bright side parts are cheap - pukka branded pads and discs all round on mine recently - under £200 quid - Father in laws Peugeot 405 cost him over £600 for the same parts.

Another benefit is that RR's are quite easy to work on - generally... Most of it is just a matter of using big spanners and hammers... A lot of cars also require you to be a gynocologist to get to the parts in the first place.

Another thing I think everyone should have branded on their soul - if you are not prepared to work on the car yourself, it will be expensive. You will be paying for problem solving as well as top price for the parts...

The mechanical parts are easy to work on, but the electronic parts can be a nightmare. It took LR 6 weeks to finally fix my SRS system after the airbag warning light came on.

There are good dealers who know what they are doing, and there are Land Rover dealers!

If you have one you need to download the software for at least reading and resetting faults. It's out there on the web but it's not user friendly - unless messing around with Linux VM's is the way you get your kicks! But it does save a lot of time and money!

Great Thread!!! And im in exactly the same boat! Sold the SC cause i couldn't be a***d filling it up all the time and as my driving was essentially urban which gave me an AVE MPG of 10mpg!!!!

Since i sold it i've looked at everything, Porsches, Mercs, BMW's (i have seriously toyed with a '09 730d m sport so Bozman you'll need to tell me how that car is!) but i keep coming back to the FFRR albeit it would be a 3.6 TDV8 (i hope the MPG is not too bad for these around town, im thinking of a remap for one too) this time round. I did love my SC tho which is why im drawn back to FF's time and time again. Range Rover SC 35th Anniversary 2006

Finally done deal.

I'm also on the side of the don't do it brigade, up to last year I had an 02 plate petrol FF which although quite old it was exceptional to drive, I went down the road of swapping when I came across a nearly new Jaguar xf premium luxury which was a demonstrator with all the toys, now this is a lovely car and always turns heads everywhere but it's not a FFRR so as soon as the right deal comes along I will once more change to the RR.

Well it's taken awhile to find the spec i wanted but yesterday I took myself on a 460 mile round trip to Romans International in Banstead. What a dealership if you like classy motors, they must have 20/30 million pounds worth of Ferrari,Rollers and even a Bugatti Veron, take a look at the website, any way I was there to look at a 10 month old SE demonstrator with Sumatra black paint ivory leather and all the toys inc. dual view screen, deployable side steps, adaptive cruise, loads more. I was not disappointed as the car was presented immaculately and having only 3500 miles on the clock it is as new. So we did the part ex deal on my rather nice jag xf and 2coffees and a signature later I was off back to Manchester still buzzing to wait for a few days while the money gets transferred. I must say this is my first experience of the new 4.4 tdv8 but how smooth and powerful can a diesel engine get? I've got no pics of my own yet but it's still on the website if anyone wants to take a peek. Agueroooooooooo. 93-20
I swear you will never see anything like this ever again....watch it..drink it in.

Yes some really tasty stuff but it has to be said that although I would love to have a run in some of them for a treat the way new ivory leather looks in the Range Rover I think it is a far better place to be for comfort and practicality. Agueroooooooooo. 93-20

Barrie, 730d was a fine car, but no substitute for a FFRR, but then nothing is. However if your driving is mostly urban then don't get a TDV8 or you'll get dpf issues! Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

If you sell the Range Rover, you need something that is a bit out of the ordinary. Otherwise it's a big step down.

I sold my 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE some time back and have been wizzing around in a Nissan GT-R.
Give it a while and you can move back to a better Range Rover than you had before. Start the love all over again.

Job done. Smile

Yes that's exactly what I've done, had a 2002 vogue then changed to a jag xf for 2 years but missed the driving style and luxury of the vogue so here I am back again. Agueroooooooooo. 93-20
