Starting woes!

Symptom: car starts ok 1st thing then gets more temperamental as the day goes on. Starting has become more laboured with in excess of 30 secs. crancking on the key not uncommon.so far have replaced the battery, external pump at fuel tank, pressure sensor that's fits on the end of the fuel rail. Don't have a code reader so will have to visit the garage yet again.at this point I am just throwing money at the car car in the vain hope that it will eventually be cured. Don't get me wrong, love the car but am losing the will to live with so many problems arising all too frequently.
47p2, cps sensor , is that an easy/ inexpensive fix?
If an injector was faulty, would the car not run lumpy? It runs great once started with no smoke from exhausts.
While getting the fuel pressure sensor done, all fuel lines checked and were seemingly all ok now, there was a small leak pre sensor fitment, but ok now.

Any ideas greatly appreciated at this point!

I would think glow plugs although it is a "funny" problem. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Doubt if it is glow plugs, even when we were down to -22C a couple of years ago I never used my glow plugs and the engine started first time

CPS usually goes wrong when the engine is warm, so if starting easily first thing in the morning and not starting when warm it is a possibility it could be faulty. Not sure on the cost, but they are not normally expensive

Wow, you are the font of all knowledge! Bow down
This seems like the next step, will get fault codes checked early in the week too.

As an aside, how do dodgy injectors manifest themselves ? I would have thought that some smoke would be produced, with pretty rough idle & running ? Is a leak back test a bit of a pain to conduct? What I mean to ask is could a dumbass with minimal knowledge & skill do it?

A dripping injector could cause difficult starting, but not necessarily cause smoke from the exhaust. Expensive to have diagnosed and repaired so making sure everything else is in order before going to the bother of removing them for checking.

Not sure if any of the home diagnostic tools will read the engine faults, but a LR indie with Autologic is a safe bet and should not be expensive.

Also may be worth just checking the wiring from the CKP back to the ECM ? .
