The DRL dongle thingy I bought for my DRLs (in foglights) has an option for "dim on headlight on" cuts light output by @ 50% when headlights come on. So guess this is a nod in the direction of DRl's being on all the time.

I would guess with daveo's setup the headlight would far outweigh the LED halos in any case.... .

checked with the MOT station today just to see what they say, they told me that they are classed as aux lighting and there is no rules weather they are on or off with the headlights as long as they are not considered a danger to other users of the road.

These look awesome, great work.

My vote would be for them to be on as long as possible - from the moment you touch the unlock button or open the door, until the interior timer goes out after you've left the car.

Hope this isnt a silly question, but would the smaller circle be the same size on a MY05 as MY06?
Id be keen to buy them for mine once you get it all sorted.

the first ring can be fitted with the main headlamp still in the housing.

to fit the second ring you will need to remove the reflector from the glass, this is held in by 3 screws, this is where you have to be careful as you can get unwanted finger marks on the chrome reflector.

do a few dry runs to get use to where it needs to go,

now you need to drill to small holes for the wires to pass through, drill these at the top of the light and if it ever did come loose it will hang from the top oppose to falling down into the headlamp

the ring on the back can be removed and then replaced after the holes have been drilled,
then just reverse the whole thing and put them back together, check for two things.. firstly that the rings are working and then have a good look for any finger prints/marks on the inside

while i had them apart i thought i would take a few pics of my xenon high beams,

split the high beam bulb holder, just need the lamp retainer and the power part of the holder

my high beam xenon 6000k 35w

looking through the back of the lamp loosen the two screws, this will allow you to clip the holder in easily

high beam bulb in place and clipped in, tighten the screws up to hold clip in place
after a few in and outs you will get the hang of it and wont need to loosen the screws.

the ballast unit fits neatly next to the original ballast, you would have the adaptive unit here if fitted with adaptive lights

good colour match on the high beam bulb and halo ring

as well as the dip beam

well they have been fitted to the car for a few weeks now and work great, very pleasesd with the the look, i had to go with the side lights option as i could not find an ignition live at the lead light plug, i thought it was the green with red trace but had no 12v there with the ignition on Confused any way heres a few pics,

Hi Daveo, looks brilliant mate, given me the kick up the ass I need to get mine facelifted - I already have the headlights- then I will be looking to get this mod in place.

They look great Daveo, but as someone mentioned earlier, you've got to invest in some Silvertec (or similar) indicator bulbs to get rid of that ugly amber.

This kind of thing...looks silver (or invisible) in the headlight, flashes amber. Thumbs Up
