Often dis-cussed is the manufacturers write into the ecu safeguards to protect the engine in the instance servicing routine isn't strictly adhered too. Also they can increase service intervals by not tuning the engine to deliver all it can. I have had my last three cars re-mapped with no issues. I am meticulous with service regime though, I would normally change the oil and filters every 6k miles.

OK I guess that settles it, I'll have to go for it then, the idea of 800Nm of torque is strangely appealing, just hope I don't mess up the planet... |

Yousif, offset your fuel use by switching a couple of bulbs to energy saving ones.

Well so far so good, I usually only drive gently but it is good to know the power is there if/when I need it and it does seem to be there

Just to highlight that the standard map as supplied with the Bluefin device for the TDV8 might work better on some cars than on others. I had mine mapped by Evolution chips and the orginal map that was supposed to be suited to most TDV8's made the car run like a dog. Once I contacted them they supplied another map and this time the car was amazing to drive smoother with more power etc. So if some of you are doubtful the map has made a difference this might be the case and I would suggest contacting Superchips as they are likely to have other maps available for the TDV8 which might better suit your car. Present :2008 TDV8 HSE
