Disappointed/disillusioned etc.

Getting itchy again.

Test drove a 3.6 TDV8- newer seats are crap, didn't like the lag between accelerator press and movement.

I know I could have it mapped but that's another expense plus would void warranty etc. So 3.6 can prob #9.

Can't afford a 4.4 TDV8 so I don't know what to do! Get saving for a 5.0? Getting a hankering for a sportier car.

Big Cry

Interesting you talk about the lag.

Just test drove my bro in law's audi A5 with a 3.0 diesel auto. Whilst it was properly quick once going, the standstill lag was awful. It did make me wonder about the tdv8 and whether it had any.

He had a shot in my 4.4 petrol and couldn't believe how direct the throttle response was. V8 or else ...

Throttle lag on 3.6 TDV8 is nothing short of dire. Measurable in centuries. Most diesels have this for some reason, yes a re-map does seem to sure it so I'm unsure as to what parameters are causing it in the map. Obviously something emissions related I reckon.

But yes, me too. Looking at a hot hatch to run as well as the FFRR.

Hi

I had the same feeling with mine until it was "BAS boxed", then this was largely corrected.

Waranty void is not an issue as you can withdraw the tune with the Box in a matter of seconds.

Give it a try or try a friend's tuned TDV8. Thumbs Up l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

I've been looking at a place in Sheffield that do them for not a lot. Top is £295 fitted and bottom is about £435 fitted, although if you get the bottom one done it could cost more as thy recommend replacing any knackered bearings thy find. Probably worth getting th gearbox oil checked too. Best thing about pulley changes is that the ecu adjusts automatically, although a remap will release even more power.

All diesels seem to have lag especially from standstill or very low speed, once you are on the go there's almost none.
It gets annoying when you're doing a lot of low speed traffic.
Both Sport and FF 3.6 TDV8 I've owned had the same "problem", I've driven a 4.4TDV8 and although it is less noticable than in the 3.6 it is still there and driven the 4.2 and a 5L Supercharged also on loan (yes I have a friendly dealer) and there's none.

Thumbs Up Cheers!
Wonder how the 'sealed for life' charger oil holds up, maybe worth an overhaul. I'm pretty interested to see if any of the factory endowed horses have 'bolted' over 6 years of use.

Either that or test drive that M6 I've been looking at Whistle

Using an M5/M6 in traffic is akin to bring raped by Mike Tyson due to the terrible gearbox. Out on an open road they are immense though.

my tuned TDV8 has very little noticable lag at all, but one way to help cut down on it in standard tune is to use the command shift, especially about town. just move it to the gear you want and it will be on boost and ready to do what you want. Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

there is a certain amount especially from a stand still, i don't think it is as drastic as some people are making out myself!! just my opinion of course.

but as i said if you drive it in manual mode it picks up so much quicker.

alternatively just spend a couple of hundred and get it mapped...you know it makes sense!! Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

Happy, the 6 speed ZF box is only sealed for life on the 3.6 TDV8 on petrol FFRR's Land Rover do not say it's sealed for life and the hand book gives you the correct oil but not the interval , I suppose I should look it up in the Servis manuel 2008 MY Supercharged
