Can anyone think of a reason not to look at this?

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/adv...?logcode=p

It's a great colour and it's a Vogue so it's specced up like we want. It's in budget and I can tie up looking at it with another couple of Rangies in the same area. However...
It's being sold by Arnold Shark. I'm thinking going in with my eyes wide open and being very thorough with inspection is obviously a very good plan, as any warranty with it is going to be worth less than the paper it's written on, but then that's going to be the case anywhere these days, isn't it?
It's also massively under book value, which gets my 'possible Censored ' radar going. Confused

Never any harm looking at things. When we were hunting for ours we had to look at a few that weren't right, but there are also deals out there from people just wanting to shift stuff quickly. Buyers market I reckon at the moment (I know, I'm still trying to sell the Touareg Big Cry ) Lloyd Barnes

Its probably worth a look if nothing else to compare the others with,

Personally for me the lights and nudge bar arent great, however there appears to be no tow bar fitted, which means that the drive train may have had an easier life than some.

If a warranty is offered the check the conditions, the main bits to look out for would be cover for the fearbox and engine.

Buy on condition and service history, if its been well looked after it may be ok.

Maybe its a little cheaper because its not a desirable car for a dealer to sell, due to it being a non facelift model its not as desirable to sell as an equivalent 05 with the facelifted bodywork...

You know you can buy the same car with a facelift? At the same age don't you...

The nudge bar would be coming off as soon as it got home. The Arnold Shark sticker would be off as soon as it left the forecourt. Can anyone tell quite what the colour of the leather is? We looked at one recently which was advertised as having cream leather; when we got there we reckoned the term 'nicotine' was more appropriate. Horrid.

For me id check where the warranty is valid as over 100k it's very very hard to get a warranty company to cover the car so it may be a dealer only thing...

The car may well be ok but try will have only paid about £9k for it so haggle away as they may be happy to shift it on being the summer the months and all Wink FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I have Ivory leather in mine, which is almost white.

Its not as easy to tell on the pic, as lights from the showroom lighten the view.......

Its not ivory, so my money would be Parchment, which is a darker cream.

One thing to keep in mind - as its not a full facelift car, the touchscreen is a Ford/Denso system interfacing to BMW electronics and wiring. This makes adding stuff like a digital tv tuner and ipod bits a bit difficult.

The early non touvhscreens can have bits added, and so can the full facelifts, which were all Ford electronics. If that makes any sense.

The hi-fi will be nicer than the one used in the earlier Range Rovers.

Hope this helps.

I can't buy one for 13k, though... and in all honesty, I prefer the pre-facelift cars. Good points, though. I might just 'phone them and see if they'll ship it up here for viewing. I've known dealers to do this and they can only say 'no'.

It does, thanks. How much more difficult is it to add digital telly? That would be one of my first mods so that I could listen to 6music all day long...

I'm not sure you can add digital TV to a car with a mix of Ford / BMW electronics. Others on here that own them may know better.

I've got an earlier car, and have fitted a hybrid (receives both digital and analogue TV) BMW tuner from a BMW X5, which is a straight swap, but are very expensive and don't come up that often on the bay of e. Can't see any at the moment, and they seem to go for £350 upwards....if you are lucky.

There are plenty of aftermarket systems for around £120 upwards, these work with the BMW non touchscreen, and have extra aerials on the rear windows, and a remote to work the new box of tricks in the boot. Put "bmw tv upgrade" or similar into Google. The early cars are all BMW electronics, so in general, if you can't find anything Range Rover specific, a BMW one probably exists.

BMW carried on developing their systems after they sold Land Rover to Ford, so for a fair few years, you can take bluetooth phone kits, sat nav and tv stuff and amps etc from a later BMW, and retrofit them to the early Range Rovers, as required. These are the early 2002 to 2004 non touchscreen models only, which you say you prefer anyway.

I've got a BMW Bluetooth system in my car, so it pairs with my mobile when I get in, and its all integrated with the screen and steering wheel buttons. Was never available on the early Range Rover, but the BMW's had it, so can be fitted..........

I believe you can fit a digital tv tuner to a fully facelifted car, and a member on here, Wiggs, supplies a few when he has them available. Not an expert here, as I don't have one of those cars.

Is 6Music not a DAB radio station ? I don't know much about adding DAB, but a few on here have done it.

Do a search for "DAB" or even "digital tv" using the search button at the top of the page, and you will find plenty of extra info and discussions.

All the best

Just dug out the 2005 model year brochure, and the lighter leather options were Ivory, Parchment and Sand, going from lighter to darker.

Looking at the colour charts, I indeed think it may have a Sand interior, and stoop corrected !

Parchment is only slightly darker than Ivory.

I believe you will have holes in your bumper when you take the nudge bar off.

The older non touch screen models are easier to upgrade / fiddle with.

Be prepared for issues with gearbox / airbags (suspension) / steering arms / suspension bushes

Check for electrical gremlins .
