Urgent Help Needed Thanks! SOLVED!

I've just taken my old heated steering wheel off to replace with a new heated nappa leather one and got to the last connector and it won't fit Big Cry

It's the red connector on the wheel itself - the female one that connects to the airbag - not the longer wire one that connects to the top where there are three connectors. The plug shape is reversed - like they reversed the shape on the new wheel? My airbag male connector is the mirror image of the new connector? I've searched on here but can't find anything.......

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks all Bow down

UPDATE - it looks like it's the cruise control wires....... FFRR Vogue 2003 4.4V8 - Epsom Green & Ivory

UPDATE 2 - ok i think its the heated steering wheel button control - three pins - green, yellow and blue - I have clipped the plastic side bit off so it will fit the new wheel connector and the green, blue & yellow wires follow through from both connectors (male and female) so that must be right.............! FFRR Vogue 2003 4.4V8 - Epsom Green & Ivory

Swap the small black box in the bottom of the wheel over as the later 2009> box has the wrong connector...

Should solve your issue...

Craig Thumbs Up

Thanks Craig - in the end I just snipped off the tab that was in the way and connected it up after checking the wire colours matched through!

Love the new wheel!! Thumbs Up FFRR Vogue 2003 4.4V8 - Epsom Green & Ivory

How long did this take to do and is it something that someone with limited mechanical ability (and confidence) could attempt? African Bush Junkie ... in London!

very easy to do, have a look on powerful uk web site video shows how to.
did mine a couple of weeks ago some of the connections were a bit stiff to remove
but took about 20 mins to do. also cut tab for heated wheel then saw could have used old black box as craig said

Hi DeRanged,
Having just done it I can say that the powerful video is handy as Dave.s. says along with the stiff connectors, but the holes you put the flat ended screwdriver in to release the airbag gave me a hard time, in the end I used a long allen key and it just wouldn't budge! It did in the end and on that bit just ease the allen in slowly and it should ping off eventually! I wouldn'o btther changing the box over for the heated connection - just snip the tab off and it fits securely - just check the wire colours follow through - that was my weak point as I'm ok mechanically but electrically a bit crap! Especially dealing with an explosive airbag lol Mr. Green Whistle

Go for it! Just make sure you do the wheel alignment thing as the splines are very close and you could get the wheel just off of center! The whole thing, elec problem aside will take you around 20-30 mins depending on how quickly you ping the airbag off Thumbs Up FFRR Vogue 2003 4.4V8 - Epsom Green & Ivory
