Buying my first RR

I live mainly on the Defender2 boards (different user name), but have recently been keeping an eye on the 'For Sale' section over here and im pleasantly suprised to find I could get perhaps a 2005 FFRR for around the £12k mark. Im thinking it would be a great tow car for my caravan and would cheer up the missuss who hates my Defender Sad . So, Im starting my research now.

Over the years of owning a Defender I have gained lots of knowledge about them, but I know next to nothing about the RR, which is quite an intimidating position to be in Confused . Are there any threads on here that explain the different FFRR models available from around say 2002, eg engine sizes, release dates, specs, known issues etc?

Thanks Smile

The Defender2 forum doesnt have a wiki, so hopefully im excused Whistle . Gunna spend the rest of today reading through it. Just need to try and establish the typical anual running costs.

Depending on what you go for and mileage then the following links should help:

Fuel costs: http://www.fuel-economy.co.uk/calc.shtml (Generally don't go for the manufacturers "combined" unless you drive like a granny)

For main dealer servicing you'll need these: http://www.tiawilliams.net/blog/uploaded_i...781187.jpg and http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Guardi...ds-001.jpg

Tyres: £300-350 a corner for OEM or £150-300 for others

Test drive as many as you can and in no time you will answer your own question at no cost.
