"For improved fuel efficiency, the new model makes use of an aluminum platform and lightweight materials which are said to give the Range Rover a curb weight of under 650-750lbs than the current version. In terms of power, the Range Rover will utilize a tweaked version of the current-gen's 4.4-liter turbo diesel V8 and 5.0-liter supercharged V8. The British brand will also make a supercharged V6 engine available for the SUV, sourced from the Jaguar F-Type and rated at 375hp."

Have to agree with Trommel....also, think that the RRS looks already dated, wheareas the L322 still looks good!

Will they really have a 3 engine option for the UK, or will we loose the 5.0 litre for the UK market if the V6 is a supercharger ?
Can't imagine why they need 3 engine options unless they were offering eco green battery power Mr. Green

Wow !

Maybe they're going to get the 0-60 same as the Cayenne, but with Bentley Luxury. Now that would be nice Thumbs Up

Craig,

I think your guy must have been saying that the L405 is going to get the same "All New" lightweight chassis as the Sport and the D4/D5.

In other words it will now share the same chassis as the rest of the family but it will be a new lightweight chassis so could be good news Thumbs Up

I think some thought you were saying it would use the Existing Sport/D3./D4 Heavy as hell Chassis....

To be honest, whilst a 5.5L V8SC will fly, I believe in the L405 the 4.4L TDV8 will be the overall engine of choice. It's no slug in the L322 so I think it will be rapid.

@ Johnson1, so do you think you'll be thinking of changing yours at the end of the year ?

I'm still enjoying mine, but have to admit I am tempted to visit the dealership for the new one......... Whistle
I wonder what they'd offer me on p/ex Rolling with laughter

Hi Rolo,

No I doubt it very much. Firstly the hit I have taken on my 11MY is too much to think about at the moment and it slows/becomes more bearable over time. I normally change every 3 years. Secondly, if the Evoque is anything to go by, even Land Rover trying to get a perfect product launch has failed miserably in terms of reliability and build quality. There are even issues present on a design that's been in production since 2002 so I will leave it until at least one model year down the line I think!
