Agree re Far East Markets but I really do not understand making the L405 look SO MUCH like the existing Sport which I detest Evil or Very Mad

I love the way the L322 has discreet curves and the rear end looks slightly narrower than the body. PLEASE let it be more like the L322 and LESS like the Sport TAXI..... Laughing

I'm afraid you'll have to accept that LR/RR need to reinvent or die.

Gaz
Remember the sport looks like the FF.
Also they probably used the same designer as he has had sucess with sales of the sport however some of them can only draw one thing just a bit bigger Rolling Eyes Mine was a blue one! Smile

That simply isn't the case Martin. This is not about re-inventing, it's about cost cutting whilst price hiking. The L405 shares the same floorpan as the Jag XJ (albeit with taller suspension struts) and a good look inside Evoque will show you a parts bin mongrel. RRS is nothing but a D4 with less room, less seats and a bigger price.

And anyone who hasn't noticed that Tata will look to separate the RR and LR brands simply isn't looking. Difficult to tell where Discovery will fit and DC100 has a long way to go if it is to retain the brand loyalty that Series/Defender has done since 1948. The 3 in the RR line up are just S/M/L versions of the same car by the look of things, certainly diluting the legendary RR brand. There is only 1 RR, except now there aren't any proper ones left.

Like I said previously, if JLR are going to keep on with their cynical BS they had better have a load of new customers lined up 'cos the old ones will buy something else. I will for sure, even after 20 years or more of loving the brand, warts and all. Warts I can live with but pretentious BS is a step too far, especially when it's only thin excuses to hike prices.

Buy what though? There isn't a real alternative.

Maybe it's a question of waiting for all the new-money markets to mature and develop some taste (although I'm not sure where that leaves the States and most of the people who buy Sports).

The thing is, the formula works...

Just look at Audi, BMW, Mercedes, etc.. etc..
All of their cars share the same interior switchgear, headlights struts, etc..which makes them S M L versions of each other.
But they sell like cupcakes...

Seen a few disguised L405 driving along M40 and around Oxford County now (unfortunately not touchy feely close up) but they certainly look as though they will have the same road presence as our current favourite and as sure as eggs is eggs...I'm gonna really really want one Rolling Eyes

All probably right about cheaper quality build materials though Neutral - but LR ain't the only manufacturer guilty of that recent years ... grew up around Porsches and Mercedes in my youth ... notice nowadays that both marques are filled with more cheap plastic than a Toys-R-Us warehouse.

Well, i met a Land Rover Tech today (works at the factory in Brum) the L405 is going to look more like the sport in its roof line etc as its built on the sport platform! Will be made on the same build line as the sport and LR4... The new FF will have Evoque style lights front and rear and look like a conservatively facelifted 322/Sport hybrid!

There is no plan for a new Sport this side of 2014 and no replacement due for the LR4 as the LR3/4 was not expected to sell as well... Strange!

Craig Thumbs Up

Then its re-styled SPORT not a redesigned L322! The difference was that the SPORT was really a D3 with a different body but the L322 a completely different and very individual car. Now it looks like they will all be essentially the same car with slight design differences Big Cry

L322 - Buy now while stocks last Thumbs Up
