Just to show how things have moved on, my old 1992 3.9 V8 Efi Range Rover Classic did 18mpg on a run, and 11mpg in traffic.

Reading up on it seems there have been a few TDV8s that have blown turbos, ouch!!. I think I've decided now to go for an earlier one 2002-2004 and keep the spare money saved up rather than tied up in another car, so will be looking at 4.4s and TD6s now. My last one was a Vogue but due to there being no TV signal anymore and the Sat Nav being awful I wouldn't even rule out an HSE this time, especially if it's in a colour I like-I've really got my heart set on a Grey one this time. |

I don't know, the TDV8 in the Sport I test drove sounded really good for a diesel. |

Try listening to the TDV8 4.4....it sounds better than the 5.0 V8SC.

Am I right in thinking that even a facelifted (ie '06 on) TD6 uses the same gearbox as earlier ones. If so, why would anyone spend circa £17k when for not a lot more a TDV8 could be on your driveway. Or, have I got confused again.... 'Nurse' |

If you're considering a TD6, just make sure you never drive or have a ride in one with any other engine in it. |
