Just to let you know. Could not convince my OD to download new transmission software:twisted: Only way forward would be a pre 2010 solution.

Hi All,

I had just about given up trying to get my paddles to work when I read on another forum about a good small independent Land Rover service specialist.

I contacted him and gave him the background on my car as well as the information Baben had kindly provided me on his car. They agreed that it was very possibly a software issue and told me to bring the car in so that they could run some tests.

The bottom line is that I took the car in and they downloaded the latest transmission software and guess what it f'ing worked. I am stoked.

I can't thank Baben enough for his support, encouragement and information on his car without which I would have simply given up. Also to Colin at BBS.

FINALLY!!!!!! Hard wired my paddles after obtaining a BMW coupler with all three plug sockets that have pins. Wired in the link to the gear shift and they work! No delay and as factory, very pleased.

Just quickly. Im looking to upgrade to leather door cards and either a leather or alcantara headlining, can anyone point me to the right forum or pass on any advice?

x7mmp, the slip ring you bought is it not a standard vogue one with heated steering wheel function

Matt, I think I have a solution to getting additional contacts to allow connection for the Paddle shifter.

If the Spiral Harness or clock spring is removed and uncoiled and an additional / identical length spring or cable is then bonded to the original one. This would add the additional contact that would be required. I am about to buy a used clock spring to test this out

Now to sift through all of this lot, though I have read it numerous times,

Going to have to work it out, do like the hard wired route but still not sure if

Paddles arrived this week (thanks Dan) and are now fitted to my car. I found a suitable "temporary" 4pin female to female cable to use for now but its a bit long

I have ordered one of these to use instead:

Well i have assembled my SC conversion kit, remote setup, with the addition of powered LED's on the paddles working with only the one 12V supply for them and the RF unit in the steering wheel area.

this is a required mod as the transmitter has a common positive rail and not Negitive, otherwise the LED's simply fry the boards on the paddles due to a direct short on pulling the paddle with the black required to be an earth for the normal LED power up.

I therefore modify the boards like this and added independant earths for the LED's, using a battery i proved the whole system prior to fitting to the car.

well got it all fitted today and it is great to have the paddles in a SC!!!

Green and White for positive ignition on and Brown for earth.

Hi Dave,

I have used the Maplin remote 2 channel unit method again on my 4.2 SC 2006 6 speed gearbox FFRR.

due to the RF transmitter having a positive 12v common on the PCB and with me running both the RF power supply and the LED's on the same feed,

I did not get LED's to work on my last installation due to the short when pressing the paddle which due to the black wire being the ground for the switch when pulling the paddle for the paddle PCB's and a positive feed going up the red wire I needed to seperate the common earth on the paddle PCB's due to the LED's needing to have a earth whilst allow the combination of either grey or blue to connect to the black to allow the paddles to replace the RF transmitter button switches with them being isolated from the LED's.

bar this it was a standard remote control installation again.
