Wheel alignment done.....still problems

So further to my post in January...

I got back in the country this week and put the rangey straight into the dealer to have the full alignment done. Four hours later and 300 pounds lighter he comes and says you still have a lot of fault lights up. OH REALLY, why do you think it was brought to you in the first place. Bearing in mind I had explained everything to him, including the active fault lights and active alarms in the code reader and the work that had been done on the track rod end to have kicked all these alarms off. Cant say I was impressed. As I had other appointments I couldn't hang around for them to start extracting more coins from my pocket with their diagnostic machine
Anyway... The steering wheel now sits straight as it should and the car rides in a straight line, however the HDC, Air suspension etc etc still all come into alarm. The code reader is showing steering angle plausibility and yaw plausibility faults. I have tried the lock to lock steering and had the batt disconnected for a short spell. I am running out of ideas and I am quite frustrated.

Anyone got any ideas of what I could try next. Has anyone used the blackbox reader and came across these plausibility faults?

You need the 4 wheels aligned, sounds like they have only aligned the front wheels which because the back axle is now out it throws the steering angle sensor out by more than 12 degrees and throws a fault

I would hazard a guess that whoever did it hadn't a clue what he was doing and the geometry will be well out hence the warnings popping up on the dash.

You need to take it back to them and tell them to align it properly

like i said before, it was mucked up first time round by a local garage. Yesterday is was in the Range Rover service centre having the geometry re-aligned on the 3d laser alignment machine. I have the report of the before and after measurements. They are now within Range Rover tolerances. The alarms were all up before I took it to range rover, hence why i just handed them 300 quid

You might need your steering angle sensors recalibrating to suit your new geometry. You sensors might have been Censored up by the Indy who started the problem. Not a big job and would push LR to do that seeing as you have just spewed £300 in their direction. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

It's not a £300 job to do a 4 wheel alignment, it should be around £60 maximum

I have mine done at Pro Grip in Larbert as I had changed the rear bushes and the dash was flashing all sorts of lights and warnings after my local McConechys tyres depot made a hash of the alignment.

I would personally erase any historicial fault codes from the air suspension ecu, steering angle sensor and ABS ecu, if a fault code resides in any one of these three systems the symptoms you have mentioned will be generated.

All the best,

Stephen
