Might be being a bit fussy with the fluid temperature there! Anywhere between 35 & 45 deg. C for the GM transmission (TD6) and between 30 & 40 deg. C for the ZF 5HP24 (V8 petrol) is fine. These are Land Rovers figures - ZF themselves actually quote 30 to 50 deg. C for their 5HP24. Just a quick reminder on the fluids too : ZF 5HP24 ('02-'05MY V8 ) = Mobil ATF LT71141 GM 5L40-E ('02-'06MY TD6) = Texaco Texamatic 7045E ZF 6HP26 & ZF 6HP28 = Shell ATF M1375.4 ZF 8HP70 (4.4 TDV8) = ZF LifeguardFluid 8 Phil |

Sorry Sal, I'm just an amateur working on transmissions that have already been removed from the vehicle, in my garage at home. It's just a hobby. I don't have a vehicle lift or anything like that.

Just about to do this job. How do you check temperature of transmission oil prior to final top up? |
