TDV8 Tickover

Could someone please tell me what the tickover of my 3.6 TDV8 should be? It seems to be too fast at 800 rpm or at least sounds too fast or is that typical for this engine? My petrol V8 4.4 was quieter and seemed slower. If you select neutral then it is quieter which is normal I know as the petrol was the same.
Also how long should it take the dealer to programme the remotes for the park heater (latest versions) ? TDV8 3.6 2010 Santorini Black / Jet Interior

Diesels often idle faster during warm up rather than running richer a you get in a petrol.

Does it do this once warm? V8 or else ...

at a very general level most engines have an idle speed between 700 and 800rpm, with diesels sometimes having their idles kept a little bit higher than petrols in order to keep the engine idling smoothly. If you lower the idle of a diesel too low, then it can lead to more engine shake ... which for an RR is not really what your looking for.

Remember your engine is an 8 cylinder engine. So compared to your average 4 cylinder diesel car engine which sound like a tractor at idle, for every rpm, there is double the amount of cylinders tapping and banging in your V8.

It will sound twice as fast ... cause there is double the amount ... but it'll be running at the same rpm. Does that make sense? V8 or else ...
