Voice control on ULF Bluetooth

I have a 6th generation ULF but I don't have voice control , which I understand is part of it.

Does anyone know how to enable it ?

Thanks

You need an ibus interface and a registered copy of Navcoder (the earlier free versions dont allow access the phone module Crying or Very sad ) which will then allow you to enable voice recognition. Or access to someone who has both Rolling Eyes

OR you need to source and connect the separate voice module but if your loom had the separate voice module connector already in it your current setup wouldn't function correctly Shocked

OR update your ULF to one "mit SES" (with voice) Thumbs Up

First option would be favourite Exclamation

Hi,

I have RSW All Comms - will that lead work with Navcoder, does anyone know ?

Don't want to buy another lead if I don't have to.

Cheers

just a silly question, you have held the button on the steering wheel down until it bleeps and then speak your command.
you need an ibus interface to use navcoder V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Thanks Gents.

I've held the button down and nothing happens - other than it ringing the last person I called, if the phone is connected.

I've ordered an ibus interface cable, to go with the generic OBDII cable and the RSW All Comms cable, so I think I have a full set now !!

Will see how I get on.

Maybe I don't have it, but understand that voice was available after the 5th gen ULF.

I can't get at it to see if it says "Mit Ses", so we will have to see.

Cheers

Mark,

Did you car have the original factory phone kit in it? Either way one thing to check is to see if there is a spare blue 16pin plug at the end of a loom very close to the Nav computer. On the original phone kit the voice module was separate and bolted under the nav computer.

Even if the ULF has voice built in (which it should for Gen 6) if you have this loom the circuit wont complete without a "jumper plug"

Here's a picture from of my old 2003 FFRR:

This maybe the problem? The BMW SES Jumper Plug part number is clearly visible but you wont need it if your loom doesn't have the plug. That will probably depend on whether you car had a phone loom with a 54pin black plug or you connected a bluetooth adaptor loom directly into the white 12pin x400 plug on the cars main ICE loom?

Andy.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for your help.

My car didn't have a phone in it.

I rewired the 54 pin plug, and used that, as my car was pre-wired for phone at the factory.

I was aware of the SES jumper plug, but read various things on the net about it's not needed as the ULF has it built in. maybe thats not true.

I haven't seen a plug, but then I've not looked for one, if you see what I mean.

The rest of the system seems to work OK without a plug (if one isn't there).

I should have the Navcoder lead in a couple of days, and should then see if its enabled on the ULF.

I'll check to see if I have the blue connector near the Nav unit.

Cheers

If you car was pre-wired at the factory then its quite possibe that you have the blue 16pin plug.

The quick and easy way to tell willl be can you speak "hands free" using the bluetooth or more importantly can the other person hear you Question If they can then you mic is working fine and your loom cannot have the voice module loom as all the SES jumper plug does is connect the "in and out" manly for the mic so no jumper = mic not working Exclamation

Assuming you kit is working fine in every other way then you can probably ignore all that I have said and revert to enabling voice using Navcoder Embarassed

My microphone is working fine, hands free - both ways.

The SES jumper is the only bit of it that I've had nothing to do with. Not sure if I've got it, if I need it, when its fitted, and whether you only have it if your car had a TCU............who knows ?

According to RAVE, for my car, the Voice Control Unit was, as you say, a seperate unit, located under the nav. As my car had no phone, and was prewired for phone only, I assume the voice bit isn't there.

Maybe then you can make the conclusion and "jump", that as voice is built into the newer ULF, the older voice part of the loom is not required.

All ideas and thoughts are valid at this stage.

I shall report back with my findings.

thanks again

Does this mean that, when I fit the ULF mit SES, the old Voice Recognition Module must be left in place? Ron B. VK2OTC

No, unplug it. I never had one, but others had issues leaving it in as there would be two on the ibus 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8
