TD4 kit does NOT fit

Just for information, I ordered the TD4 EGR kit from ebay as it was a bit cheaper.

Imagine my delight when i realised it did not fit!!

The plate attaching to the exhaust hose is too long which means it would not marry up to the manifold. It was only about 10mm out - but too much to bolt it on.

I contacted the seller who confirmed the part for the TD4 and TD6 are slightly different!

Anyway sold it on ebay and got the allisport one.

Fuel economy 23.5 aound town so far (usually about 21.5)

So far so good

BTW - if you do try cleaning out the original egr valve - beware - I wandered into the house and upstairs to get a torch and left tarry crap all over the stair carpet. I reckon the cost of a new carpet is going to offset any money i save on diesel..........

I am going to order an alli sport one on eBay, but just want to confirm the install is straight forward and easy access? I saw the guide on wiki but I just want to make sure I don't have to take a million things apart/off before I can get at it..

About 20 mins unless you try to clean out the inlet manifold at the same time. Bottom left allen bolt can be tricky but easier when you fit new part as you can see it then.
You must remember to blank the vacuum hose (blue I think)
Have fun Mine was a blue one! Smile

Thanks Aurrian
I just wondered because those figures are about or slightly better than mine but MPG is such a huge thread and also bag of worms on here with so many claims and counter claims. I seem to do about 34/5 on a motorway (which would be in line for the 10% claimed by my box at 60), 33 at 70 not sure round town because it only does a daily of three miles so somewhere around 18/19 feels about right. If i do a bit more of a local run maybe low twenties not that bothered about mpg cause if you want a rr you cant worry about it but just like to know its about right.
It would be good to know if people running re-maps or boxes find the engine noisier in useor notice any increase in smoke when they floor it ?

Nightmare....!!

So went to fit the allisport blanking kit. Should have been 5 min job, nope 5 hour more like. The bottom left bolt was not budging. Dad decided to saw off old valve to get better access. Head on bolt was worn, wanted to scream several times, but eventually lost the head with the vice grip and got it off..the relief. Now one question the hose, I put i blocked it off by putting it onto the nipple of the blank kit. I never thought to secure it on, what happens if it comes off?

I fitted one of the cheap Britpart EGR blanking kits to my 2003 TD6 HSE. While I had the EGR off I decided to clean the inlet manifold which had approx 5mm of soot buildup lining it. What a job that was I ran it through a parts cleaning solution then hot soapy water and finally washed it in petrol. But what a difference it made, no longer trailing large black smoke clouds under acceleration and the engine seems to rev freer. It went to 4500 in sport mode under rapid acceleration the other day.
Though I do agree with Aurrian that the stains on the carpet take a while to remove but a powder carpet cleaner is your friend. Also works on the FFRR carpets Very Happy
