BMW M62 engine in L322?

Hi,

Does anyone know if a BMW 540 or 740 m62b44tu V8 engine fits in the Range Rover L322, or must it be the engine from BMW X5?

Regards

No, the engine was heavily modified for use in the FFRR. There were major differences in the design of the sump among other things...

I know an engine from a Bimmer sedan won't work, no idea about one from an X5, but I'm pretty certain you need to find a wrecked RR and pilfer it from that. No easy or cheap task probably... Cheers,

Aaron

I think you could get away with it if you used the donor as a tall block and implanted everything from the current engine like manifolds and loom and sump and sensors you may get away with it but it's unknown waters on here!!

What's wrong with the current unit?? FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

If you are going to the trouble, I'd be dropping in a V8 from an M5........

As above, I very much doubt if any BMW engine will work. It may be the same basic engine, but it's very much modified, and you'd have a hell of a job getting the ancillaries to work, let along the ecu's. Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

My engine has a surface damage in one of the cylinders.
I think X5 and RR must surely have the same block, I can not believe that BMW would have built a special block for RR.
I would of course move all parts (sump, intake, ECU) from my engine for the new block.

Does the block not have a part number ?

or is that a silly question ? 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Hi.

If I look at the BMW spare parts manual, the 540-740 models do not have the same number as X5 on the block.
But it is difficult to compare between RR and X5, as Land Rover and BMW do not use the same part number.
I would like to use a RR engine but here in Sweden there are no second-hand units, although there are many X5 engines.

Regards
JS
