What was the reason for change?

I'm chasing a front suspension clunk, and have done all the front suspension, but nothing on the steering.

There is no sign of any play in the track rod ends, but running out of ideas!

Ta

David

Changed track rod end cause it was shot.
started as a knock from the front end when going over potholes or grids. it slowly got worse then steering was shimmying (excuse spelling) when travelling over uneven surfaces. Jacked front end up rocked wheel top and bottom fine, left and right bit of play in nearside track rod end so swopped it, it was shot when I got it off. Now all fine just a bit of suspension thump over potholes etc.
however track rod was siezed solid on inner trackrod even 24" stillsons would not budge it and if you warm them up it can be an MOT failure I am told, so ended up replacing inner and outer. Old one would not undo even in a vice with big stillsons so no chane lying under the thing at home will make sure I have an inner to hand when I do the other side just to be on the safe side.

Good luck with your investigation what I did was deliberatly run one side over a bad surface then the other to see if one side was worse as when it started it was just a general knock from the front Mine was a blue one! Smile
