I had it yesterday - it was snow making the wheels very out of balance - was fine when defrosted - maybe it could be this?

Thanks. Snow. mud or ice was my first thought - I did very nearly get stuck on New Year's Eve in deep mud hidden under the snow (ploughed some monster furrows getting out) - but I can't see anything untoward anywhere.

check there is no grass, reeds or other debris wrapped round the prop shaft - after your trip into deep mud - this does cause the symptoms you describe. If it is, the cure is a crawl on your back with a sharp knife... |

Yes, I know the problems grass can cause, I've destroyed the diff seals on a Discovery with it before (I've also spent far too long cutting it out of various PTOs, balers, mowers etc.). |

It didn't bottom-out as such - I put the nearside onto the snow-covered verge into which it immediately sank, front more so than rear. |

Fixed itself - I think it was frozen mud on the wheels and/or driveshafts.
