Yes. It can not only be safely used, you are better off for it as the original strainer oil separator is known for killing turbos. The new one is a vortex design.
There was a thread (at least one) a while back on this topic and I posted info and a pic on RR.net just last week.

I recently serviced mine and changed the whole valve as it is five years old not difficult and there is some instructions on wiki under http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic7324.html.

BMW apparently redesigned the oil separator after the split from LR - and LR never got the new bits. So they don't have them.

The new separator is only about GBP20. And yes, there are engines that last forever with the old separator (without proper service!) and there are engines (turbos) that don't last. If BMW took the time to redesign the separator, there will have been an issue. Using the new bit is only sensible. But I wouldn't stop driving because I don't have it...

As for the PN- I don't know. Will have to search. There is a thread or 2 here on this subject. Search is in the top bar... May have been by fisha (Username)?

Here is the new separator (right) and old at left

Renegate 2 tks.I've read that td6 and td4 hv same breathers.Indeed fr td4 new filter 11127799224 fits.What bother's me is that pn 11127799224 is fr 2.0l engines.
Sorry for my ignorance but i donot know if this can have affect or not the td6 which 3.0l.If not then this part nr shld be the correct one.
