Hi Colin, I've got the dual 7 pin sockets, and both open to the side.

I fitted using two of the black plastic nuts that the plastic boot floor side panels are fitted with.

I got Westfalia, mine would only fit sideways .... and I also used a couple of the plastic nuts that were holding the boot floor trim down It will all become clear when you get into it |

The 13 pin socket on my Westfalia opens vertically.

My LR sockets allowed plenty of flexibility, though i fitted mine to open left and right diagonally (12s/n sockets) as if it opens straight up it fits right against the bumper so its a PITA to get the sockets out when unhitching |
