Have you tried a decent run of booting it hard and really clear it out?

I also have disappointing MPG averaging 22.5 for the last 1000 miles including a trip to wales towing a small trailer, I would of expected close to 26-28 MPG.

I'm pleased to report that I am still returning 30+mpg after 12,000 miles with no change. However, most of my driving is long distance motorway 60-70ish |

I'm a firm believer that engines from time to time need a bit of a blow out ... especially diesels. By that I mean that you rag it a little ( boot it hard from the roundabouts, accelerate hard up to speed and hold lower gears longer ) I used to throw injector cleaner into a tank of the V6 diesel passat and then drive it hard and it seemed better for it. Over time, things do bung up a little. and a decent work out for the engine can clear the system out.

"590 on a tank" - I'm impressed and usually happy with anything over 500 ! |

I have a late 06 TDV8 and have found the same, i get about 24 mpg combined with motorway, country lane and town. I had mine mapped using the Superchips Bluefin and it goes very well but no mpg improvement.

I have used DMS to re-map a 3.6 Tdv8 and two 4.4 Tdv8s and the results are stunning in terms of extra torque, power, smoothness and extra MPG. I get a consistent 31mpg from the current one. From memory i got 28 from the 3.6.
