I had a look at this and found a reasonable space for a second battery would be in the engine bay on top of the front passenger chassis leg, below the inlet air duct for the fuel cooler. Would depend on the size of battery you require but a battery mounted in this position would certainly reduce large dia cable runs to the rear of the car

Thanks very much, a lot of food for thought there the second batt will supply power to the fridge & lighting to the roof top tent. but needs to be winch capable as well.

Are you fitting a winch ? or do you have one already ? I notice your in the west midlands do you mean the by birmingham midlands in uk ? If yes i have a winch fitted to my 05 facelift ive had it on and of the car a few times so if you need a hand to fit one or want to look at mine your more than welcome i could even be tempted to sell it onto no6 Range Rover

Yeah my CLS has the main battery in the boot, about the same size as a FFRR one, then a small auxiliary 14Ah motorbike size battery under the air filter housing in the engine bay. 2006 Mercedes CLS 1991 Retro-style Mini But really finding it hard to fight the urge for a S/C... |

Thanks for the offer mate but I am in Oz at the moment (I spend a bit of time with the old'is back home in Dudley) and then my home in Sydney, I just saw the photos of your winch install a few posts up, looks very good, I'v got a warn 10,000 lbs low mount that I'm going to fit. in the front of mine. Even my cook thinks it looks ok after seeing your set up. Where have you put the second battery? I still dont like the idea of the long cable runs if I put it in the back... also the cost of the genuine winch cradle over here is going to be a shock to the wallet so I might have a go at making my own do you have any more photos of the cradle? Thanks, who's Dan...Dan if your reading this send me a PM.... I reckon it would be cheper than the stellers over here they want an arm and a leg then ask for your first born... But I'me pretty good with a mig so I can problably knock one up if I'v got something to work from. But I'm geting in front of myself again must sort out the battery first...lol I need another key for the LM and a mate who works at one of the biggest dealers over here can get me one at his price $550 dollars, you can get the same thing over there for 200 quid (about 300 bucks) "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
