One thing you may wish to check.

Yes, I think unless you have a perforation (i.e a hole you can see through) they won't do anything.

They are saying it is not a manufacturing fault, so it is not covered. The corrosion must start from within the metal and not on the surface they say. They are not even prepared to talk further about it.

I feel your pain. Obviously my FFRR is out of warranty for this, but in the past cars I've had with the warranty have taught me that it's not worth the paper it's written on. I've never managed a successful claim on anti-corrosion warranty and with what you spend having the main dealer inspection each year and servicing it's not worth even trying to keep that warranty intact. I'd say that if you can get it sorted by a good body shop for 2 to 3 hundred, don't put yourself through the hassle of arguing with LR about it. Chances are the body shop you choose will be better than the one LR choose and even if it's the same one, they will probably do a better job for an end customer than they would just doing the bare minimum that the warranty would pay for. |

To be fair, I think it's pretty reasonable that they only cover perforation, or rust from 'behind', rather than surface corrosion, since most surface corrosion can be down to the way the car is looked after.
