If you've pointed chatgpt at this forum then the times will be wrong, not many of the quoted times will have been for a mechanic in a fully equipped workshop, more than likely a DIY job on the driveway with a halfords socket set (which is more than upto this job).

The times I quoted are off the factory repair documents, pretty sure there is a link to it on the wiki tab.

The garage has quoted as per the screen shot of Haynes professional so there is some justification if u replace the gasket when doing the job.

I think ww has said that while they think [the cooler gasket]‘ these parts are important for the repair of the vehicle’ they won’t cover it which seems perverse. Not sure how they can justify that. --

WW came back late last night - they seem to love sending a reply at 5pm when it's too late for me to do anything. Delay tactics?

'After having further discussions with our technicians, I can advise that whilst these parts are important for the repair of the vehicle, however, this particular component is not something that can be considered an item that we can assess at this time due to the aforementioned Terms and Conditions.'

I don't understand how they can say these parts are important for the repair but then won't cover them on an approved item (oil cooler) replacement.

I think they're misinterpreting their own terms - indeed they sent me a version of the T&C's which, according to their website aren't the rights ones for my policy. I think they cover the head gasket in an engine because they name that gasket - but I think that means if it fails they will pay to replace - but they wouldn't normally cover another gasket. But, I would argue a gasket which needs replacing to repair a covered item (oil cooler) in a professional manner should be covered. What a joke these warranty companys are, this is why i dont have one . It will be pain full to get a big bill but it would be worse if i had given these clowns money and then had to fight them. overfinch modified

Maybe this will be off some help to you. I have a WarrantyWise plan
and I had my oil cooler replaced last April. You will see in the attached images the full cost that my Indy charged and also that WW covered the whole amount (even though they deducted 3 months premium of £270 as excess which is an annoying thing that they do!). Apparently the gasket is included with the Genuine oil cooler and the only thing that I had to pay for was the oil to be changed, plus the £270 up front but of course that was offset against the next 3 months premiums.

i do know they won't cover anything beyond the actual issue. 'while you're there' jobs wouldn't be covered. I think because it's called the cooler gasket as a layperson, I assume is linked to the cooler. --

just to add an extra dimension, warranty wise have now agreed to pay for all the seals and gaskets as a gesture of goodwill - the grand total of £17. But not the cost of fitting them... --

just to update on this. It took quite a while but they have eventually agreed to pay more towards repair.

they have agreed to pay about 80% of the total bill, which seems about right. They haven't said exactly what they're paying for, but I'm happy with that as a compromise. By delaying and not specifying what they're paying for they can avoid paying for car hire which I should have been entitled to. (jobs over 6 hours are entitled to car hire).

If I'm being generous to them, it could be that much of the issue came from the garage describing the water pump as worn out and the heater valve as seized. Both of which they could argue as excluded from cover.

- be very careful what the garage says - in my case, the parts hadn't been opened and inspected. The garage was just saying they had broken but did so in a way which gave WW an excuse.
- Ask to escalate to the manager once you get to the stage of circular conversations with minions. --
