This is where I am stuck between a rock and a hard place now. Since they changed the transfer box oil, it's got worse if anything. So I have since asked them to do this reset, and they said they'd rather not, they'd prefer to change the oil in it again and put some "anti judder" in.

I don't know why they seem reluctant to do the reset, though. I can't get any sense out of them on that.

I did find on an older topic here:

The symptoms can occur before or after a transfer box oil change.

The LTB is:

" LTB00906v6 - Twin Speed Transfer Case Judder "

" A customer may express a concern that a judder is felt from underneath the vehicle when using steering input at low speeds, for example turning left or right at a junction. This technical bulletin has been updated due to a change to the warranty section, parts section, condition summary and service instruction. "

If you present your car to a LR Main Dealer with judder symptoms, they might suggest a transfer box double flush, road test and software update. Our car displayed these symptoms (3.0 TDv6). The procedure was recommended and resolved the issue. The LR Main Dealer applied no charge for the procedure.

The symptoms can be the subject of an LR warranty claim.

I'm minded to bung it in the main dealer if this comes under warranty. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black

Maybe let your Indy do the double flush? That's go to be the cheapest and possibly the quickest step. It might well solve the issue, it's certainly in line with the TSB your quote referenced.

Not sure why they'd be reluctant to do the TC clutch calibration, though? They must have their reasons, perhaps press them a bit more on their reasoning? I wonder if they've had issues in the past or lunched a customers TC? I'm sure they're diag kit will do it - I assume they are a LR Indy and not just a generic garage?

I've never personally done a TC clutch calibration, as usually a fluid change takes that judder / graunch you get when setting off from a junction with a fair amount of steering lock on (my old L322 TDV8 used to do it when pulling out of right hand junctions).

Let us all know how you get on! Thumbs Up

Just to add, these Transfer Cases are very fussy about which oil is in them. It's a specific weight of oil with special friction modifiers.

Just a thought? If you're 'Indy' isn't an LR specific Indy and is throwing 80/90 gear oil in there!

But if they are an LR Indy, I wouldn't even question them (they may take offence), they'll know what to put in!

Yes, they are a LR indy specialist.

I emailed the local main stealer yesterday with the bulletin number, It's booked in, in four weeks for them to look at and calibrate the steps that the indy couldn't do either.

The fact they couldn't calibrate the steps either, tells me its more about the kit they have that might not be up to L405s generally. I'm not keen on having tins of Dr Tranny or some anti-judder stuff added in there if its not necessary and a calibration is all that is needed.

They're usually OK. I've used them for years. But I have had less success with stuff generally with them since going into an L405.

I'll update when Sytner has had a look. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography in black
