Sounds like fuel starvation to me. The bit about lifting off and then being able to drive through it suggests the brief lift allows fuel pressure to build back up. Might be worth getting the high pressure pump tested, also the lift pump.

you have a secondary fuel pump on the td6, these seem to go first. 2004 black Vogue TD6 |

Replacement pump ordered, hopefully going to be sorted next week. Th warranty is picking up the bill, phew!! |

Got it back, all sorted but it had started bloody working again before it went in.

Loved my p38 but I wish I'd chopped it in earlier in favour of an L322. Stick with it. Definitely worth the hassle even with the teething probs! |

i agree with brumster, why have a boring car that works first time and nothing goes wrong with it, better to have a fullfat and battle your wits against it... |

It it's anything like the 530d (same engine), then after one pump goes, the other one will too, since it's been overworked to compensate for the failing pump.

I'd suggest it's also worth checking the MAF. That can cause these sorts of problems. |
