Towbar and side steps for L405

I've been looking to buy a newer one (2019/20)for some time but I need a towbar and SWMBO has got used to the deployable side steps. There are plenty with light coloured interior (required) but often without steps and/or towbar. I've been looking at Pegasus for the side steps and my only experience of tow bars is my current one (deployable) and the 2" thingy which I quite liked on my L322 but don't seem available for the L405. Has anyone of here got experience of these items as aftermarket fits and recommendations or warnings that I need to be aware of. Geoff

2” thingy is definitely available. I got the OEM one as a dealer afterfit but think there are others available from non-LR.

Looking at the LR accessories catalogue the farmer's hitch towbar is up to MY 17 only. I have it and think it is the simplest solution as it avoids the seizure problems associated with the deployable ones and also the detachables. It is also cheaper. But alas it looks like LR don't do it for MY18 onwards so maybe the only LR option is deployable, as it is on L460. I'm not sure about aftermarket, sorry. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Think there may be different versions pre and post MY18.

I’ve been looking into deployable side steps too. All routes seem to lead back to Pegasus for decent after market ones

Thanks ABAB, that is useful clarification.

The farmer's hitch seems the best bet to me, mine was retrofitted by the dealer, no problems. I think it also has a higher nose weight rating than the deployable. The armature has become rather rusty on mine, I keep a rat tail file in the car to file out the rust from the holes through which the retaining pin passes and the anti rattle nut and bolt also rust badly so I have bought a bag of nuts and bolts and replace them every now and again. This may be worse in Scotland due to the wet weather and salted roads. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Right so all I need to do now is find out who sells the farmers hitch at a cheaper price (for a 2018 onward) than Land Rover - that should just about anyone who sells it - although they don't at the moment I find PF Jones convenient for me. Interested to hear pros and cons from anyone with Pegasus kit for the side steps. Geoff
