Yes common for the cable to snap, changed my last year and think I paid about £20 from a certain website. Easy enough to change, I covered mine in lithium grease when fitting as the door is prone to freezing in the winter and the grease can help. Strangely the passenger door has never froze ! |

Remove the door card for access, don't know about your year, but on a 2006 model I disconnected the battery and waited a while, because I had to remove the air bag for access, as the cylindrical section on the end of the cable was jammed inside the door catch mechanism. Good tip about adding grease to the parts |

As others have said, the cable has most likely snapped, often near the end part that is attached to the inside of the door pull. Usually there should be minimal resistance felt, if any, while pulling the handle; that is the tell tale of a broken cable. In case the cable turns out to be fine, then the door lock is in need of adjustment. This is done by an Allen bolt concealed under a rubber grommet just above the latch mechanism. |

Thanks for the help chaps. I have now ordered a cable, was very surprised at the great variation of prices for a short piece of cable. -----------------------

Hopefully you can hold the unlock down on the fob so the window opens, then you can reach in and open it from the inside. Save you clambering across from the passenger side.
