New acquisition - a few issues

2019 m/y 3.0 V6 - So all largely going well and then:

1. I have an amber engine light that doesn't go away. Happened just after my first refuel but cap seems well seated. Booked into the main dealer on Tuesday. Under warranty so hopefully nothing ominous.

2. washed the car and alarmed to see a few drips on the "inside" of the screen on the drivers side

3. My wife used it yesterday and it had a sudden loss of power. She pulled over and restarted and all fine.

Obviously will raise all these on Tuesday but interested to hear any similar experiences

Can't help with number 2 I'm afraid, the only thing that springs to mind is to check your sunroof drain tubes.

1 and 3 could both be caused by whatever is causing your engine management light to be on though. You'd need to have the codes read before doing anything though as you'd be playing diagnostic roulette doing anything else.

Hopefully it's a quick easy fix for both though.

Point 2 sounds like a badly fitted replacement windscreen. Take it back to the dealer and get them to check / have re-done. They may have *just* had it done and could get Autoglass or whoever straight back out.

I had a badly fitted screen in one of my vehicles and water got into the BCU behind the dash and caused me no end of grief (vehicle needed recovering) and huge cost!

Thanks for replies. The screen does look very fresh and so that may be the issue. I will check in the morning when I take it in. No evidence of anything around the sunroof.

The selling main dealer garage say they did not replace the screen. My main dealer garage say that it is a non original non oem screen poorly fitted which is why it is leaking. Not best pleased about that! Thought that would have been picked up in the "165 point check".

The engine light is apparently a nox sensor. Waiting to hear next steps.

If you bought the vehicle from them they are obliged to sort the issue out as it was clearly present at the point of sale.

Regardless of which ham-fisted monkey fitted it in the past it is their issue to resolve as clearly water ingress into the compartment is potentially not very good for you, and frankly for them either and may in fact save them a lot of trouble down the line if addressed now.

My 2p worth.

Water ingress isn’t covered by the JLR extended warranty either so make sure they sort it and dry the car properly as you’ll be on your own for any issues that they can put down to a water leak. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

Update

So finally got everything sorted out but not without a lot of stress and about a months delay. The engine light was a nox sensor which the selling dealer should have dealt with pre sale so that was delayed as it wasn't a warranty issue. Likewise the windscreen which should have been replaced with a LR screen not aftermarket. My local dealership were brilliant in following this through which involved endless conversations and messages. Wish I could say the same about the guys who sold it to me who were totally uncommunicative and obstructive. Not one phone call with any sort of apology.
